Join the Olympic Park Institute (OPI) staff to help inspire and create our next generation of scientists. The Elwha Science Education Coordinator position closes Sunday, May 13th at 5pm and is intended to start in early to mid June, 2007, based out of Olympic National Park and Port Angeles, Washington.

The Elwha Science Education Coordinator is a full-time, exempt position responsible for developing and implementing programs for the Elwha Science Education Project. The ESEP uses the Elwha River’s dam removal and restoration as educational context for a diversity of scientific and social studies for North Olympic watersheds and students. This position will work closely with the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and OPI’s Field Research Project Manager to support science education goals for tribal youth and their North Olympic communities (download full posting).


With funding expected from the National Science Foundation for the next five years, the focus of this position will be planning, teaching, and coordinating science programs in the Elwha River watershed, regional classrooms and the Lower Elwha Klallam’s Tribal Center. Educational activities led by this position could include: field science investigations, tutoring, backcountry camping, college visits, conference presentations, classroom teaching, and event planning. This position will report to the Field Research Project Manager for Olympic Park Institute and is based in Port Angeles, Washington.  Please see website or attached job posting for essential duties and responsibilities and for desired qualifications.
